- Kiko en Lala is set to be shown in cinemas in September.
- Kiko en Lala has been pushed back several times.
GMA Pictures’ comedy offering for this year, Kiko en Lala, finally has a playdate.
The movie, which will feature Kapuso comedian Super Tekla in his first starring role, will be finally released in cinemas on September 25, 2019.
In an Instagram post, Super Tekla revealed the date and invited his fans and followers to watch his first movie in a leading role.
The comedy film was initially slated to be released last May as GMA Pictures comeback film but was delayed to a later play date to buy more time for its advertising and promotion. GMA bigwigs were allegedly not convinced to make the comedy flick as the comeback movie of GMA Pictures after it produced two flops—Basement and Overtime—almost five years ago.
Instead of Kiko en Lala, GMA Pictures released the family drama Family History which stars Dawn Zulueta and Michael V.

Comparison to Vice Ganda
Super Tekla has already shared the limelight via his hosting gig in Willie Revillame’s Wowowin. But he rose to more prominence when his Sunday talkshow with Boobay The Boobay and Tekla Show (TBATS ) competed and won over its competitor, the long-running Sunday night entertainment talkshow Gandang Gabi Vice. This prompted some people to compare him with the popular Kapamilya comedian.
But Super Tekla was quick to note that he’s still far from being “Vice Ganda” and shared how he idolizes the Kapamilya host and comedian.
“Malayo pa po yon, malayong dream. Vice is Vice na po yon. Di na natin maano yan eh nakapako na yan.
Wala akong hinahangad kung ano kuntento lang ako. Kasi ang hirap nun but anyway ginagawa ko lang ng maayos ang trabaho ko sa pagpapasaya ng mga tao,” he said.
