What happened after the first and only GMA Artist Center Ball?

ABS-CBN rival GMA Network had a similar event in the past, their first and only GMA Artist Ball.

Talk about the recently concluded ABS-CBN Ball 2019 hasn’t died down yet.

Social media is still rocking with different memes, reviews, and other commentaries about one of the year’s most glamorous events.

Last Saturday, September 14, ABS-CBN Stars and celebrities gathered for a night of glitz and glamour at the 2019 ABS-CBN Ball held at Shangri-la The Fort. Aside from the glam and fashion, the event was also done for a charity since proceeds of the ball will be given to Bantay Bata’s Bantay Edukasyon Program.

ABS-CBN rival GMA Network had a similar event in the past, their first and only GMA Artist Ball.

Eight years ago, in 2011, GMA Network tried to match ABS-CBN’s Star Magic Ball.

Held at the Makati Shangri-la Ballroom, GMA Artist Center stars donned their most glamorous looks at the first and only GMA Artist Center Ball.

The event coincided with the launching of GMA Publishing’s Profiles Magazine, a magazine aimed to match ABS-CBN’s Star Magic Catalogue.

Some of the most notable GMA artists present at the ball were Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos, Bianca King, Kris Bernal, Aljur Abrenica, Kylie Padilla, Bela Padilla, Sarah Lahbati, Julie Anne San Jose, Mark Herras, Chynna Ortaleza, Ryza Cenon, and Rocco Nacino.

Sadly, GMA Network wasn’t able to come up with another ball in the succeeding years.

While GMA Network artists no longer had the occasion to get glammed up for an event, some Kapuso artists were able to grace the ABS-CBN affair via their Kapamilya connections.

In the 2017 edition of the Star Magic Ball, Heart Evangelista was present with her husband Sen. Chiz Escudero. Another Kapuso but former Star Magic artist Kristine Hermosa also graced the event as her tribute to the Kapamilya talent agency’s silver anniversary.

Janine Gutierrez was also present at the Kapamilya affair that year through her then still rumored boyfriend Rayver Cruz.

Former Kapamilya and PBB Housemate and returning Kapuso Megan Young came with boyfriend Kapuso Mikael Daez. Megan was most likely invited because of her Miss World 2013 title which she won when she was still with ABS-CBN.

Some of the Kapuso talents who graced this year’s ABS-CBN Ball were Kylie Padilla, Ryan Agoncillo, Marvin Agustin, Raymond Bagatsing, and Direk Chris Martinez.

With the popularity of the ABS-CBN Ball, will GMA network bring back to life their version of the ball?
