It was two months ago when the reality singing competition on ABS-CBN, The Voice Kids, came back for its fourth season with judges Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo Manalac, and Lea Salonga.
But former judge Sharon Cuneta opted not to be part of The Voice Season 4.
Sharon shared that she is certain that she will no longer return as a coach in The Voice. One of the main reasons that she turned down the offer is her being too attached to the finalists so she feels hurt whenever elimination time comes around.
On her Instagram account, she explained her decision.
At a press conference, last October 10 at Novotel for her upcoming concert Iconic with Asia’s Song Bird, Regine Velasquez. the Megastar explained why she was not doing The Voice.
“I didn’t wanna do The Voice, hindi ko na kaya yung stress, yung emotional [stress] kapag nag-e-eliminate. Sobra akong emotional. So I told Mr. M noong May na, ‘Mr. M, I don’t think I can do The Voice.'”
She added that it stresses her out especially on the elimination process
“It stresses me out, yung mag-e-eliminate at saka mga bata.”
As Cuneta being as soft-hearted as she is, she made it clear that it’s just her being emotional when it comes to things like this.
“I don’t mean that the other coaches are like that, it’s just me, because I’ve always been emotional and I’m a mom, so parang ayokong maging part na may konting matanggal sa dream noong bata.
“Hindi ko kaya na. Ako yung umiiyak. So nagiging drama, ayoko na.”
After turning down The Voice, ABS-CBN offered her another show.
“They offered me a show na hindi masyadong akma. It was a nice idea but it wasn’t for me, I just felt it wasn’t for me.”
But it’s not too late, The Voice will be back for another teens edition. Will the Megastar be up for it?
“No, I’m not doing The Voice anymore. I get emotional sa The Voice, e.”
But Sharon shared that she would want to do another season of Your Face Sounds Familiar, which is hosted by Billy Crawford.
“I want to do Your Face Sounds Familiar if it comes back.
“Di ba, you have work friends? In Your Face Sounds Familiar, I have lifelong friends.
“These are life long friends of mine, so parang feeling ko, nagre-reunion kami as a family every show.”
Her fellow judges on the show are Ogie Alcasid (for kids edition), Gary Valenciano, and Jed Madela.
After four decades in the entertainment industry, the 53-year-old actress shared that she’s more choosy and pickier in her singing and acting gigs.
“And at this point in my career, I’m in the position to choose what I want. Hindi na ako nakiki-karera tulad ng mga bata, graduate na kami sa ganyan, lahat na ng awards nakuha na natin.
“So parang ngayon, whatever comes our way, kung gugustuhin namin, that’s what we’ll do. Hindi na yung, ‘Ay, kailangan gawin.’ So I’m waiting for a show na akma.”
Recently, Sharon even shared that she’s considering ‘semi retirement’ from showbiz. She shared this on her Instagram account with her parting message for her daughter Frankie Pangilinan who is studying abroad.
