Maine Mendoza admitted that she is both excited and nervous for the premiere of her first-ever BlackSheep film Isa Pa with Feelings. The film also served as her first collaboration with Carlo Aquino.

After the media launch of the film last September 30, Maine told the press that she is not aiming to equal or surpass the highest grossing Pinoy film of all time, Hello, Love, Goodbye which starred her former love team partner Alden Richards.

“Wala naman po kaming pinapatunayan, wala naman kaming ine-aim na pantayan o lagpasan po yung nakamit nila. We’re very happy sa success po ng pelikula nila at sa personal lives nila. Pero ngayon po ang aim po talaga namin is makagawa ng magandang pelikula para sa mga tao,” Maine explained.

Isa Pa With Feelings is her first movie since her love team with Alden was disbanded earlier this year as the two stars decided to take their own career paths. The separation of the pair caused some fans to be disheartened.

“Parang given naman po na meron talagang group of people from the fandom na hindi matutuwa sa bagong pairing pero nandito na ‘to e, parte talaga siya sa mundo ng showbiz na hindi pwedeng yun at yun lang ang makakatrabaho mo. And feeling ko eventually maiintindihan rin nila it’s a chance for the artists to grow nga and to explore.

“Pero kahit ganoon pa man po, meron pa rin naman pong as in talagang suporta, solid pa rin ang pagsuporta sa proyekto po namin,” said Maine.

Carlo agreed with Maine by saying, “What she said,”

Are they feeling pressured by their new pairing?

“More than pressure, ako, mas in-enjoy ko na lang yung bagong kapareha, di ba? Mas nag-concentrate ako sa doon sa mga matututunan ko kesa doon sa ma-pressure,” Carlo said.

Echoing his words, Maine said,“ Same din po ako. Parang winelcome and in-embrace ko na lang ang pagkakataon to get to know another person, to work with another actor, with another team. In-enjoy lang.”

In the film, Carlo plays Gali, a deaf-mute sign language teacher while Maine plays his student named Mara who will later fall in love with him as revealed in the movie’s trailer. Isa Pa With Feelings is directed by Prime Cruz and will soon hit the cinemas this October 16.

Were there any similarities between their characters and their own personalities?

Maine answered, “Nakikitang pagkakapareho namin ni Mara, a lot of people are expecting from her, so parang nakikita ko rin siya, yung struggles ni Mara… Nakikita ko din and nakikita ko sa sarili ko, so minsan doon ako nakakahugot.”

Meanwhile, Carlo said, “Si Gali, meron siyang parang ipinapakita sa tao, pero deep inside, insecure… maraming insecurities. Ganoon din ako, kahit na maraming praises ang mga tao sa acting, marami talagang insecurities.”

Maine, together with Carlo, visited the headquarters of ABS-CBN in Quezon City last Monday night, September 30 for the promotional tour of the film.

Through a Facebook Live shared via the official page of Black Sheep, Maine can be heard saying “This is real!” as she entered the ELJ Communications Center. The actress is now expected to appear in several Kapamilya shows.

Last July, Alden also visited ABS-CBN along with Kathryn Bernardo to promote their Star Cinema movie Hello, Love, Goodbye.
