“Iyong cast, balita ko, nakukumpleto na. Excited na ako ma-meet sila!” Jane said.

Production is expected to start rolling in January 2020 at the newly opened ABS-CBN Horizons Sound Stage in Bulacan.

Currently, Jane is still undergoing several physical training sessions for the needed stunts in the film.

“Sobrang hirap!” she said. “Ang in-expect ko mahirap siya, pero mas mahirap pa pala.” said Jane about the rigorous physical training.

Aside from physical, she’s also getting ready mentally, since portraying Darna comes with all the pressures and stress.

“Mentally, nakaka-pressure, kasi siyempre, everyone nag-e-expect sa akin. But it’s okay, nandiyan naman ang family and friends ko, especially the management to guide me. ‘Pag nagwo-worry ako, nagpe-pray lang ako para mawala,” Jane continued.

De Leon is the third Kapamilya actress who will wear the iconic Darna costume in ABS-CBN’s version of the movie.

Initially, the role was given to Angel Locsin but halfway through the filming of the movie she backed out due to medical reasons. Because of her lumbar injury, Angel decided to beg off to recuperate from her injury.

After Angel, the role was given to Liza Soberano. Everything was fine and all systems go with Liza until she also encountered an injury which also became her reason for backing out from the project.

Aside from changing lead actresses, Darna also had changes in director and production. The project was initially helmed by ace director Erik Matti. But with creative differences with the producers, Matti resigned and was replaced by another renowned director Jerrold Tarog.
