  • Netizens slammed Sen.Villar for insensitive nCov remark.

Senator Cynthia Villar opined that the current global nCov scare will be good for local agritourism.

“Since there’s a ban on any flight coming in from China, Hong Kong, and Macau, so they can’t cruise for fear of getting infected of nCoV so we will rely on farm tourism and it is local tourism,” the senator said.

She also added that this will be a great chance for many Filipinos to explore local tourism spots, especially farm tourism as promoted by the Department of Tourism.

Senator Villar is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food.

However, netizens were puzzled and amused at the same time how the senator found it fitting to promote local tourism in spite of the nCov scare.

With three confirmed cases in the country including 1 mortality and hundreds of persons under investigation of the deadly novel coronavirus, netizens are at a loss on how Villar managed to think of tourism plans.

Reactions from Twitter showed netizens’ disgust over Villar’s insensitivity and sheer lack of understanding of the seriousness of nCov and inappropriateness of her suggestion.
