Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles on Sunday, April 12, belied rumors circulating on social media platforms about a new extension of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine after April 30.
In a virtual press briefing, he said: “Hindi totoo yan. Fake news naman yan.”
Nograles, the spokesperson for the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, also admitted that the task force has not talked about the extension of the lockdown after April 30.
“Kung may nagpapakalat man nito, hindi namin pinag-uusapan yung extension ng lockdown after April 30,” he stated.
Furthermore, Nograles advised the public to be mindful and aware of the false information making rounds, especially on social media.
The Luzon-wide lockdown, which was implemented on March 17, was supposed to end effectively by April 12, however, President Rodrigo Duterte decided to extend its due until April 30 to curb the growing cases and spread of COVID-19 disease in the country.
As of April 13, the Philippines has recorded 5,223 confirmed number of patients positive with the coronavirus disease, with 335 total deaths, and 295 recoveries.
