• Kim Chiu released Bawal Lumabas merchandise for charity
Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu gained praise from celebrities and netizens after releasing her ‘Bawal Lumabas’ merchandise for a cause. The merchandise is based on her viral video which turned into an actual hit.
The actress announced the project on her Instagram account as she showed colorful shirt designs with catchphrases “Bawal lumabas” and “Law of classroom”.
The proceeds from the sale of the ‘Bawal Lumabas’ merchandise will be used for food packs for poor families and will support Angel Locsin’s project, Shop & Share 2020, to raise funds to help carry out coronavirus mass testing in the country.
The Chinita Princess made noise on social media when she turned her viral ‘sa classroom may batas’ analogy, into a witty but clapback song for her bashers.
In her very first interview with MJ Felipe after the controversy, Kim was asked how she is feeling now after being criticized and ridiculed because of her viral video.
“Eto na lumabas na ako with a different perspective. Di ako lumabas nung mga panahong nagsilabasan lahat ng memes ko.Pero ngayon okay nam” Kim said.
How hard was the struggle for her?
Kim admitted that staying at home during this quarantine has taken a toll on her mental and emotional well-being.
Kim said, “Actually mahirap siya. Words cannot describe kasi naka-quarantine tayo minsan yung emotion natin minsan nakaganito. Yung emotion natin sobrang fragile. Dito ko na nalaman na nakakabaliw pala sa loob ng bahay. Though it is safe for Coronavirus, nakakagulo siya ng isip”
“Wala kang ibang magagawa rito kundi magwo-work-out, kakain at manonod ng TV. Kasali talaga dun yung social media eh. It’s part of your daily routine so it is your choice kung magpapaapekto ka sa mga masasamang sinasabi nila sa ‘yo. Ang hirap parang gustong mong sabihin,’bakit?'”
She also stopped herself from browsing social media sites at the height of the attacks on her/
“Hindi ako nag-social media. I stopped talking to people. Even yung mga viber group ko,nag-out ako. Wala akong kinausap except sa lahat ng tao dito sa bahay namin or except yung importanteng mang tawag. Isa siyang mahirap na sitwasyon na hindi mo alam ang pakiramdam kung wala ka ‘dun.”
Despite what happened, Kim said she did not regret speaking up in defense of her home network, ABS-CBN.
“Pero hindi naman ako nagsisisi sa ginawang kong ‘yun. Hindi ako nagsisi na nakipaglaban ako para sa Kapamilya natin. Siguro way din ito ni God to show na kahit sobrang baba ka na bubuhatin at bubuhatin ka, tumayo ka diyan. Yung ganon.”
