Award-winning actress Judy Ann Santos, along with other artists who worked for ABS-CBN, aired her disappointment over ABS-CBN’s shutdown.
Judy Ann uploaded the ABS -BN logo with the caption, “In The Service of the Filipino People” to protest against the said forced shutdown.
She further told her followers that she did not expect two things to happen in her lifetime: the spread of coronavirus and the forced shutdown of the network she grew up with since she was 13.
On her IG feed, she wrote: “Nakakalungkot.. nakakapanghina… nakakatulala.. dalawang bagay ang hindi ko inakalang mangyayari sa buong buhay ko.. ang maranasan ang ECQ at magsara ang naging bahay at buhay ko mula 13 years old ako.. maraming mas dapat pagtuunan ng pansin sa mga panahong to.. maraming nangangailangan ng tulong mula sa gobyerno.. maraming natutulungan ang kumpanyang bumubuhay sa puso ng mga tao sa panahong to sa pamamagitan ng mga programang pwedeng magpalibang at pansamantalang makalimutan ang mga problemang pinagdadaanan nating lahat… bakit po? Bakit ngayon??

A certain @yzangguapa then replied, “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW 👊🏻👊🏻”. Juday answered back, “Yes no one is above the law.. I respect that.. but in my own oponion.. wag naman sanang sinabay sa ganitong sitwasyon.. yun lang naman ang akin..”
User @crystal_noack also commented, “It was at the wrong time we know but the BESR DECISION EVER! And we, normal Filipinos who see how bias the station is, would celebrate this closure! I understand you are sad, all of you working under ABS CBN but sometimes you also have to see in a different perspective. #finallyshutdown #abscbnshutdown2020.”
To which, Judy Ann responded, “I understand, but if we are to talk about being biased… and or other violations of our network, why not investigate other companies as well?”
A self-proclaimed Juday fan @judayfan90128 said, “JUDAY, law is law kasi! hindi exempted ang kompanya mo. mag aral ka nga. wag puros dada dyan sa kusina mo. ambobo.”
Judy Ann replied, “Bobo agad??
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease and desist order against ABS-CBN on Tuesday, May 5, a day after its congressional franchise expired.
The NTC directed the said network to end all television and radio broadcasting operations.
Republic Act No. 7966 was enacted in March 1995 and granted the Lopez-led network a franchise to operate for 25 years, but Congress failed to act on its renewal. The franchise expired last May 4, 2020.
Solicitor General Jose Calida warned the NTC against giving ABS-CBN the provisional authority to operate while its franchise renewal is still in the works.
