Bugoy Drilon and Daryl Ong banned from ABS-CBN, netizens react

Daryl Ong and Bugoy Drilon, two members of the all-male vocal trio ‘BuDaKhel, set the online world abuzz after the former confessed how he and his fellow artist Drilon ended up being banned from ABS-CBN.

On June 15, Ong cleared things in his video blog and narrated the unfortunate circumstance that led to their separation from the Kapamilya network.

According to Ong, he and his fellow band members were on a trip to an event at Iloilo when they had a discussion about investing in stocks which later led to the ongoing ABS-CBN franchise issue.

It was about how ABS-CBN is losing in its online petition after only getting 60,000 signatures out of the 1 million goal. Ong stated that the huge gap will make it impossible for the network to reach its target.

Unknowingly the conversation was recorded and was handed over to one of the ABS-CBN executives, which resulted in him and Bugoy being banned from all ABS-CBN projects.

As their manager said, “Daryl banned kayo ni Bugoy sa ABS,” after they got back to Manila.

This incident disappointed many netizens who called it an ungrateful act of the artists towards their home network despite the opportunities that were given to them.

They further added that instead of giving the support the network needs in this crucial time while fighting for its franchise renewal, they showed hopelessness.

Normal na reaction yun ng network. No matter how hopeless the situation maybe,GOOD MORAL dictates that one would ONLY have GOOD WORDS and FULL SUPPORT to the HAND that feeds you,, otherwise para ka lang palang ahas na nanunuklaw? Diba Daryl ong?

Meanwhile, some netizens claimed that Ong and Drilon are the victims. Thus they should be given a chance to explain their sides, especially that their conversation was recorded without their knowledge which is against their right to freedom of expression.

It's so unfair that Daryl Ong and Bugoy Drilon got banned from ABS-CBN because of a wiretapped conversation without even explaining their sides. Where's the "freedom of speech" in this case?

For those people who keep saying that it's backstabbing, no it's not. Like hello? Daryl Ong just corrected what Bugoy's have said and besides it's a fact naman na malabo nila ma reach ang 1M petition nila.

I support Daryl Ong and Bugoy Drilon since they were new in the industry. Now, you became popular in your field. Just keep on moving on! We still got your back.

I STAN WITH DARYL AND BUGOY

Daryl Ong rose to fame after joining the singing competition ‘The Voice of the Philippines (season 2).’ Before his singing career, he was a cartoonist at ABS-CBN and was an animator of the series ‘Super Inggo at ang Super Tropa.’

Bugoy Drilon was a ‘Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA)’ alumnus. Both Ong and Drilon are singers and songwriters who later became part of a vocal trio together with Michael Pangilinan.
