Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban broke her silence on the ABS-CBN shutdown and the ongoing retrenchment of employees.
In a series of tweets, Panganiban said she had been silent for some time because she could not put into words how she felt about the shutdown of the Kapamilya Network.
“Nanahimik dahil hindi kayang buuin ng salita ang nararamdaman ko. Galit, takot, pangangamba.”
She didn’t even forget to mention on what would be the condition of the workers now that the day has come of the retrenchment that will take their job away, “Ilang buwan nang nag iisip paano na ang kasamahan namin sa trabaho. Ang pamilya nila. At dumating na ang araw na napakahirap tanggapin.”

She also called out the bashers who are rejoicing in the demise of the network, asking where do they find the guts to pull down fellow Filipinos, “Tratuhin niyo naman kaming mga tao. Kaming lahat na nawalan ng trabaho. Nawalan ng tahanan. Paano niyo kayang sikmurain na pag tawanan ang kapwa ninyo Pilipino na nawalan ng kabuhayan? Pilipino sa kapwa Pilipino na ang naglalaban laban. Tama pa ba yon?”

Angelica commented on Zanjoe Marudo’s now-deleted post where she cursed on the comment section.
Apart from this, the 33-year-old shared a cryptic tweet with her followers on Twitter.
Lumuhod naman. Bakit niyo pinatay?… PILIPINO KA BA TALAGA??!!!!

In a statement, ABS-CBN reported that the retrenchment program is their last resort to ensure that most of their workers continue to work.
“With the non-renewal of its congressional franchise, ABS-CBN is now forced to cease the operations of some of its businesses and implement a retrenchment program covering ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries effective end of business day on 31 August 2020,” the network said.
