After she delivered relief goods to Pasig some months ago, netizens have been shipping Bea Alonzo to the city’s Mayor Vico Sotto.
Some gushed that they got kilig over the encounter.
In a recent Instagram Live broadcast with G3 San Diego, the actress revealed that she felt embarrassed about what happened, and she felt bad for the mayor. “Nakakatuwa ‘yung mga tao. Hiyang-hiya ako kay Mayor,” Bea said.
Bea’s photo with Mayor Vico became viral because of catchy caption that she used which was a Four Sisters and a Wedding reference, “Hi Mama! Nakilala ko na ang paborito mo! 🤣 Joke!”

Hi Mama! Nakilala ko na ang paborito mo! 🤣 Joke! Team I AM HOPE went to Pasig this afternoon to turnover relief bags and disinfectants for the frontliners. Thank you, Mayor Vico Sotto and Cong. Roman Romulo, for your time. 🙏🏻 In line with Father’s Day, we intend to celebrate the fathers who choose to serve the community by cleaning the streets and picking up our garbage. MARAMING SALAMAT PO sa mga tatay na street sweepers at garbage collectors sa pagtulong sa ating kumunidad at sa pagttrabaho ng marangal para sa kanilang pamilya. From the I AM HOPE FAMILY, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! swipe! . . . @iamhope_org @thisisrinanavarro @tricia_canilao @iam_mariamay @vicosotto @cong.romanromulo @shalanisoledad
“Kasi I thought it was just funny. Kasi ‘yung time na nandun kami, we were murmuring about it. Even ‘yung taga I AM HOPE. So I thought it would be funny if I post something like that. So hindi ko naman inaasahan na magiging ganun.”
She then stressed how embarrassed she felt, “Alam mo after hiyang-hiya ako talaga. Nakakainis pa si Janus. ‘Yun ‘yung friend mo na nilalaglag ka. Alam mo ‘yun. Hiyang-hiya talaga ako sobra.”
Moreover, the actress stressed that she wants the relief efforts to be more about the people rather than her, “As much as possible, I try not to make it about me. Kasi I feel like it’s bigger than me, we have a responsibility nowadays to make everyone aware about what’s happening. And so that they could help, too.”
Just like everybody else, Alonzo respects Mayor Vico for the kind of leader that he is right now.
“Alam mo I have so much respect for him because first-hand nakita ko how his people respect him. And talaga sobrang organized sila du’n. They practice social distancing, may sistema talaga du’n. So mas tumaas ‘yung respeto sa kanya in fact.”
Last Father’s Day, Bea handed over relief goods and medical supplies to the city as part of her campaign for Father’s Day, with the help of I AM HOPE Foundation the actress successfully gave out help to the Pasig citizens.
