COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon endorses Angel Locsin for a Senate position

“In my opinion, if Angel Locsin runs for Senator , she can win. Tatak Bisaya, Ilongga. Courageous, bright and with a sincere heart.”

Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon is backing up Angel Locsin to run for Senate.

In Twitter post, Guanzon expressed her trust for Angel and said that she sees potential in the actress to be a future Senator, describing her as courageous, bright, and sincere.

The tweet, however, earned various reactions from netizens which were also addressed by Guanzon.

She defended Angel from netizens who questioned the actress’s capability to have a seat in the Senate and emphasized that what matters the most that she has the heart for the people.

“Kaya ni @143redangel yan, yong mga Lalake nga nag Senator e. Bakit babae hindi puede ? She will hire bright lawyers to help her.”

“Maraming lawyers na hindi naman magaling at honest na Mambabatas. Kailangan natin yong walang personal interest . Bayan ang sa puso.”

Guanzon is known as an outspoken COMELEC commissioner. Last year, she bravely disaffirmed the eligibility of Ronald Cardema who was overaged for his supposed assignment as the Youth representative in the House of Representatives.

Amidst death threats, extortion, and other intimidation moves, she stood firm with her vote to cancel Cardema’s nomination.

Meanwhile, Angel Locsin is a philanthropist, who is socially engaged and active. She has been very vocal and outspoken with her opinions about the government and other issues.

Recently, she joined the noise barrage in front of the ABS-CBN compound and called out her fellow Kapamilya artists who have been quiet amidst franchise denial.

Guanzon and Locsin are both advocates of women’s empowerment and women’s rights.
