Actor Gerald Anderson attended the press conference of his new show ‘Hook up’ with his co-star Arci Muñoz via Zoom. During the conference, Gerald was asked about his true relationship with actress Julia Barretto.
It can be remembered that Gerald and Julia were linked to each other after they starred in the film ‘Between Maybes.’ Gerald was in a relationship with actress Bea Alonzo at the time and there have been speculations that the actor had an affair with Julia.
Julia, on the other hand, was in a relationship with actor Joshua Garcia at the time.
Gerald and Bea have already broken up and the actor continues to deny that Julia was involved in their breakup. Julia has also denied that she was in a relationship with Gerald.
“Hindi ko siya naging boyfriend and hindi ko siya boyfriend ngayon. Therefore, wala akong inagawan ng boyfriend, wala akong inahas, at saka wala din akong nilandi,” Julia said in an interview with ABS-CBN news.
But people are still theorizing that Gerald and Julia are secretly in a relationship. Recently, an entertainment reporter questioned Gerald regarding his true relationship with Julia during the actor’s presscon.
The reporter demanded answers from the actor saying that the more he chooses to be silent regarding the issue, the more people are going to be curious about it.
The reporter said that Gerald should just answer the questions once and for all so that the people will stop asking about it.
Gerald was amused by how the question was thrown at him and said “Ang ganda ng segue, ha.”
The actor did not give any definite answer about it. He only said that he has no interest in talking about it as it is a topic that has no connection with the film that he is promoting.
“Siguro unang-una, ayoko na rin pag-usapan ang isang taong wala naman din dito. Walang koneksiyon sa ginagawa natin ngayon,” he said.
“Respeto na rin po siguro sa kanila. Labas po tayo diyan…” he added.
He hinted that as much as possible, he doesn’t want to talk about people behind their backs as a sign of respect to them.
He showed that he values the rights of other people in having some privacy in their lives. Even if he and Julia are celebrities, there are still things about their life that they wanted to remain unknown to the public.
Gerald explained that he is the kind of person who avoids meddling with other people’s personal lives and that he would advise people to do so as well.
“Ganun po talaga yung character ko. I mind my own business. At ipapayo ko rin ‘yan sa ibang tao,” he explained.
The issue of the relationship between Gerald and Julia rose around mid-2019. The actor admitted that 2019 has beaten him up saying that the year brought him so much pain and negativity.
He posted on his Instagram saying that even though the year 2019 gave him many problems, the year also showed him who people really are. He was able to discover who among his friends are true because he knew the ones who stood by him.
“So much negativity… But [I] will never be consumed by it,” he said. “2019 thank you but [I’m] leaving you behind… [Well-equipped] for 2020,” he wrote.
Gerald also posted a picture on his Instagram that showed him holding the hands of an unknown individual.

The post was captioned as “Treating each and every moment, no matter how challenging – as something to be embraced, not avoided.. To not only be ok with it ,but love it and be better for it.. So that like oxygen to a fire, obstacles and adversity become fuel for your potential.. Amor fati”
This sparked the speculations about him and Julia once again but until now, the two have remained quiet about their true relationship.
