The Descendants of the Sun remake is based on a 2016 hit Korean series of the same name.
It premiered on February 10, 2020, as part of GMA Network’s Telebabad line up.
The premiere of the series gained a lot of attention and it even claimed the top spot on Twitter and Google Trends. It also won big at the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards.
The production of the show was suspended for more than five months due to the spread of COVID-19 and the imposed community quarantine. It resumed its lock-in taping earlier this September.
