In her Twitter post, actress Nikki Valdez criticized the Manila Bay White Sand Project. She also noted that no one wants trash in Manila Bay.
Nikki also added that the project is a band-aid solution. She also adds that since there has been a budget, the focus should have been on cleaning Manila Bay.
“Sino ba may gusto ng basura? Ang sa akin lang naman, parang band-aid therapy ang paglagay ng dolomite sa Manila Bay. Kung gusto niyo talaga pagandahin yan given na may budget nang allotted para diyan 2 years ago, find the root cause of the problem. Thoroughly clean it,” said Nikki.
She also noted that the white sands in Manila Bay are superficial solutions. Nikki also urged that the focus should be on a long term solution like waste segregation.
“Hindi yung tatabunan niyo nalang basta ng dolomite masabi lang na ang ganda na. If we want a clean Manila Bay, go for longevity by teaching people cleanliness, mag segregate ng basura at huwag itapon kung saan saan,” Nikki added.

Nikki’s previous tweets about the Manila Bay white sand also noted her opinions about the priorities of the government during the pandemic.
Gustong sagipin ang Manila Bay pero walang pakialam sa front liners, ABSCBN employees, LSI at mga estudyante na walang gadget para makapasok sa eskwela.
Nakakaangat ba ng buhay ang white sand???

She also criticized the opening day of the Manila Bay, stating that there are seniors who participated in the event.
To begin with, bakit niyo binuksan????? 🤦🏻♀️ may seniors pa.
What were you all thinking? Nag improve ba mental health niyo? https://t.co/qjHYWM6d6j

Nikki’s recent tweets seemed to be taking a jabs at Mariel Rodriguez’s comments on Instagram. Mariel received backlash for her comments about critics of the project wherein she stated that people weren’t complaining before when there were tons of garbage in Manila Bay.
Mariel also received backlash about her comment that people should be happy since they are seeing where the government spends their taxes.
