‘What do you expect from her?’ Netizens slam Mariel Rodriguez’s comment about Manila Bay makeover

One Netizen also lambasted her reasoning, saying that the white sand is fake and that it damages Cebu’s natural resources.

Mariel Rodriguez commented on her husband Robin Padilla‘s Instagram post that people shouldn’t complain about the Manila Bay fake white sand beach project.

She also noted that people can now see where the taxes are going.

“Nung puro basura walang nagrereklamo ngayon na pinaganda… can you believe it? Ngayon sila nag reklamo? Ang hindi ko maintindihan is lagi natin hinahanap kung saan napunta yung tax na binabayad natin… ayan oh.. atleast yan nakikita natin diba. Tapos mah complain pa rin?” said Mariel.

Netizens took to Twitter to slam her comment. For instance, one netizen noted that Manila bay still has trash that needs to be cleaned.

Netizens also dared Mariel and Robin to swim in the waters of Manila Bay and to bring their children along with them.

One Netizen also lambasted her reasoning, saying that the white sand is fake and that it damages Cebu’s natural resources.

Human Rights Activist Francis Baraan IV noted that COVID-19 should have been prioritized over the beautification of the Manila Bay.

One netizen also noted that people would have appreciated it more if the taxes were used correctly in response to the pandemic.

Another netizen also noted that Mariel voiced out her opinion on Manila Bay but not on ABS-CBN shutdown despite her ties with the network.

The white sand beach project only covers 500 meters of Manila Bay and solves its superficial issues. Experts say that the focus should be on solving the pollution around the area and to maintain cleanliness in Manila Bay.
