Veteran director Cathy Garcia-Molina revealed that she still sees the positive side of the pandemic despite the many challenges and hardships that it brought people. She said that it gave her the opportunity to always be available for her children.
She made the revelation during the presscon for her fundraising event called “Pakpak ng Pangarap” which aims to raise funds to buy 100 laptops for students who need it the most.
“Sa totoo lang, pangit man pakinggan kasi may mga taong namatay and kumbaga na-ospital. Pero para sa akin, isa itong sagot dun sa hiningi kong puwede kaya akong mag-24/7 with my children. Nangyari siya,” said Direk Cathy.
She explained that there will always be something positive no matter how hard a situation is. She said that it is just a matter of how people will look at the situation.
The 48-year-old director added saying that even though she is still occupied with her work from home, her children can still come up to her and she can be available for them which is something that she has been hoping for a long time.
“So merong part, sa lahat naman ng pangit sa buhay, meron talaga yun na ka-partner na maganda eh. Depending on how you look at things. So to me, yung pandemic, ito yung positive sa akin. I am with them,” she said.
“Wala naman kami sa opisina so andito ako sa bahay nagtatrabaho. I may not be with them talaga but they know they can always come up. Asa third floor lang ako eh. Yun yung window na naibigay sa akin ng pandemya na nagawa ko yung pangarap ko matagal na to be with them,” she added.
In the same interview, the director also shared her opinion regarding the several Kapamilya artists who decided to transfer to other networks following the shutdown of ABS-CBN and the COVID-19 pandemic.
She mentioned that she didn’t have any work now and that her Nickl Entertainment team are also struggling to make a profit. But she said that her team just needed to trust in the process.
She added saying that the Kapamilya artists who transferred to other networks are just trying to earn some money that’s why she can understand their decision.
“Hanggang ngayon hindi pa kumikita ang Nickl Entertainment kasi it takes a while. I am growing my numbers sa followers. Kung kumita man kami, hindi enough para mapasuwelduhan ko sila and sa expenses of running a company. But you just believe and hope that someday darating din kami dun,” the director said.
“So I’m sure naiintindihan ng ABS-CBN yan and kung may choice rin naman itong mga artistang ito, I’m sure they wouldn’t do that. Hindi kasi ako puwede mag-judge ng ganun kasi hindi ko sila kayang pakainin eh. Maybe I can do that if I am going to give them what they need di ba? I cannot do that so parang understandable naman,” she added.
Direk Cathy even jokingly said that she might transfer to other networks as well but she took her statement back right away. She assured that she is loyal to the Kapamilya network but if ever she will transfer to other networks, the director said that it would be with the consent of the ABS-CBN heads.
“Kahit nga ako eh malay niyo di ba? Hindi hindi (laughs). Alam niyo, alam naman ng ABS-CBN ang loyalty ko sa kanila. But then kung halimbawa naman akong lilipat, eh siguradong may basbas nila. Sigurado yun. Hindi ako bigla na lang mawawala. Si direk Olive (Lamasan) I am always in constant know and si tita Cory (Vidanes) and si president Carlo (Katigbak). Alam nila yung ginagawa ko. May basbas naman,” she explained.
