After 70 Congressmen rejected its franchise extension, ABS-CBN, the largest media company in the country, was forced to shut down.
Only 11 congressmen voted to support ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal. The said lawmakers are: Bienvenido Abante Jr from Manila 6th District, Carlos Isagani Zarate of Bayan Muna party-list, Christopher De Venecia of Pangasinan, 4th District, Edward Vera Perez Maceda of Manila 4th District ,Gabriel Bordado Jr of Camarines Sur 3rd District, Jose “Ping-Ping” Tejada of North Cotabato 3rd District, Lianda Bolilia of Batangas 4th District , Mujiv Hataman of Basilan, Sol Aragones of Laguna 3rd District, Stella Luz Quimbo of Marikina 2nd District and Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas 6th District.
Kapamilya star Vice Ganda and other hosts of ‘It’s Showtime‘ paid tribute to the 11 legislators, whom they called “Brave 11”.
“Gusto lang po namin linawin na lahat po ng mga manonood natin, lahat po nang mga pumasok dito na galing sa iba’t ibang barangay at distrito ay chineck namin kung ang kanilang mga congressmen ay pasok doon sa 11 na mga kaibigan namin. Charot!”
“Mabuhay ang 11 mambabatas! Habambuhay namin kayong ipagdiriwang!” Vice shouted.
ABS-CBN continued airing through The Kapamilya Channel which is available on cable and satellite television through Sky Cable, Cablelink, G Sat, and most member-cable operators of the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA) nationwide.
It was recently announced that It’s Showtime was one of the shows that will be seen on the newly rebranded Zoe 11 channel, now known as A2Z, as part of a blocktime deal with ABS-CBN.
The show started airing on Channel 11 on October 10, 2020.
According to It’s Showtime host Karylle, this will be a gift to the madlang people especially they will be celebrating the 11th year of It’s Showtime on Channel 11.
“Isang napakalaking regalo sa aming 11th anniversary month ang pagbalik ng showtime sa free TV.
“Sa mga ‘di nakasabubaybay sa online and cable, na-miss namin kayo. Marami tayong pinagdadaanan ngayon pero nagtitiwala ako na after every storm comes a rainbow.
