In July, the House of Representatives decided to reject ABS-CBN’s bid for the renewal of the franchise.
The House Speaker at that time, Alan Peter Cayetano, was among the biggest antagonists of ABS-CBN and he made sure that ABS-CBN will be out.
However, recently, issues arose regarding the fight for House Speakership between Cayetano and Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco.
On Monday, Velasco was officially installed as the new House Speaker with a total vote of 186 out of 299 Congressmen which signifies the ousting of Cayetano.
This election, which was held at a sports complex in Quezon City, was disaffirmed by Cayetano.
The ex-house speaker points out the unconstitutional declaration of vacancy of his precedent position.

He also said that Congress is not a circus and an entertainment show and so, such ‘clownery’ is unjust.

With this, ABS-CBN employees who were retrenched due to the closure of the network blasted Cayetano.
They hit Cayetano’s ironic statements which are contrary to his stand during the ABS-CBN franchise bid.
Nick Villavecer said that Cayetano is concerned about losing his job but did not mind about closing ABS-CBN where 11,000 employees are affected.
Worried siya matanggalan ng trabaho pero ‘di siya worried sa mga tinanggalan niya ng trabaho when he killed ABS-CBN’s franchise. 🤡 https://t.co/nVBpQX476n

Other netizens also recall the impact of Congress’ decision to reject ABS-CBN’s franchise which was led by Cayetano at that time.
Talaga ba? Parang laking gulo nung libu-libo ang nawalan ng trabaho dahil pinasara niyo ang ABS-CBN? https://t.co/CiyaBc56HI

Cayetano who seemed to be ‘betrayed’ by his political group, now called on the media for help which did not sit well with netizens.
Cayetano: "Mga kapatid namin sa media"
Luh. Isa ka pa nga sa nagpasara sa ABS-CBN during the PANDEMIC.

Cayetano and Velasco had a term-sharing agreement with the House Speakership where the aforementioned will serve for 15 months while the latter will serve for 21 months after Cayetano.
But this pact was ruined when Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte asked the Mindanao bloc to depose Cayetano for the unfair distribution of budget for 2021.
