Laban o Bawi? Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano compared to Sexbomb dancers after inconsistent statements

Representative Alan Peter Cayetano was compared to a Sexbomb dancer because of his Laban-Bawi statements and inconsistent stand on ABS-CBN’s franchise.

The Sexbomb Dancers were the ones who popularized the term “laban-bawi”.

The first contradictory statement was made on April 30. Rep. Cayetano said that he could not imagine a world without ABS-CBN.

“I cannot imagine a Philippines or world without ABS-CBN. Likas na sa lahat ang pagiging Kapamilya eh,” said Cayetano.

Then, after the congress killed the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN he suddenly changed his stand on the issue.

“We simply put an end to the privilege of one family [Lopez] in using a public resource to protect and promote their private interests,” said Cayetano.

And now, after he got ousted from the House Speaker post with 186 votes from Congress, he suddenly valued press freedom saying that it is vital to a democracy.

“There is no democracy without a free press. We will rather have those small mistakes and mag-criticize ang ilang media rather than wipeout and shut out the media and then saying, ‘Maayos ang democracy.’ Walang democracy ‘pag walang free press, ‘pag walang media,” said Cayetano.

Members of the press and netizens blasted Rep. Cayetano when he invoked freedom of the press since he led the charge in ABS-CBN’s shutdown. Also, some described his ousting Karma’ for costing thousands of employees of the media giant their jobs and livelihood.

Paalala lang natin baka nalimutan niyo:

You and your congress led the killing of ABSCBN franchise in a pandemic. It costed thousands of jobs and livelihood.

Huwag gawing excuse ang sitwasyon para i-extend ang posisyon. Alis. https://t.co/1gxOcEJvz0

Don't like this Lord Allan guy, pero… At least alam na ni Alan Peter ang pakiramdam, after ng ginawa nila sa ABS-CBN.

Karma, karma, karma chameleon… 🤡

Cayetano: "Mga kapatid namin sa media"

Luh. Isa ka pa nga sa nagpasara sa ABS-CBN during the PANDEMIC.

Talaga ba? Parang laking gulo nung libu-libo ang nawalan ng trabaho dahil pinasara niyo ang ABS-CBN? https://t.co/CiyaBc56HI
