Kapamilya host-singer Ogie Alcasid happily celebrated his third year as a returning Kapamilya.
In an Instagram post, the singer-songwriter shared a picture of his contract signing three years ago together with a picture of his wife Regine Velasquez’s contract signing also which happened on the same date a year after.
In his caption, Ogie noted their coincidental Kapamilya anniversaries, while greeting Asia’s Songbird on her Kapamilya anniversary also, “On Oct 17, 2017, I was officially a kapamilya. The following year on Oct 17th, wifey also became a kapamilya and we were totally unaware of the coincidence. 😊😊😊 Happy kapamilya anniversary to us mahal @reginevalcasid #allglorytoGod.”
The singer-couple were two of the Kapamilya celebrities who chose to stay with the network. While other Kapamilya stars decided to accept offers from other networks following the ABS-CBN shutdown and rejection of their franchise application, Ogie and Regine stood by the Kapamilya network.
In a recent interview with G3 San Diego, Regine said he did not regret switching networks and returning to ABS-CBN because she was able to work again with her former colleagues and was able to venture into something new.
“Not at all. Kapag nga tinatanong ako, ‘do you regret it?’ I don’t. I will never regret anything.”
“It was my decision to go back to ABS, because I wanted to experience something else, something new. I wanted to work with the people that I used to work with before but was not able to anymore because of the whole GMA-ABS thing. I just wanted to experience that,” she said
Regine added that her transfer to ABS-CBN has helped her maximize her singing capability especially when she became part of the afternoon variety show ASAP.
“When I came back to ABS-CBN, I was given ‘ASAP.’ I became part of this whole family na in the beginning I thought I would have a hard time but then they just welcomed me with open arms. Everybody just welcomed me and I had a wonderful time.”
“Before the pandemic, I was able to experience it naman, eh. Ang dami kong nagawa before, hindi na nga nabigay ‘yung renewal ng ABS, marami naman akong nagawa. Also, in a way parang nabuhayan ako ulit kasi, first of all, I was singing, parang na-maximize ulit ang pagiging singer ko because I was doing ‘ASAP’ every single week. Like in one show, I would sometimes have three numbers. So, that’s a lot. And I was so looking forward to performing every Sunday,” she added.
Meanwhile in an earlier interview also prior to her transfer to ABS-CBN, Regine mentioned one of the real reasons why she opted to switch networks and that is to be able to work with the number one network ABS-CBN.
“Alam ko naman kung ano yung lugar ko sa industry.
“Sobra akong touched na touched sa welcome na ibinigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN kasi hindi ko akalain na ganun ako kaimportante, hindi po ako mailusyunadong tao.
“But the reason why I’m here is because hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan ko pa kayang kumanta, and I want to work with their talented singers.
“Yun talaga yun, na bago man lang matapos yung career ko, masabi kong nakatrabaho ko din ang number one station,” Regine said.
Currently, Regine and Ogie continue to be mainstays on ASAP Natin’ To which can be seen over Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and on free TV via the A2Z Channel 11.
