Kapuso star Jennylyn Mercado can’t find enough words to describe her feeling about the viral Tarlac shooting involving a policeman, a mother, and her son.
In a tweet, Jennylyn shared a Rappler article regarding Tarlac PNP chief’s statement saying Duterte has ordered off-duty police officers not to surrender their firearms in their respective armory in case eventualities of crime happened.
The viral policeman Jonel Nuezca, (who killed Sonia and Frank Gregorio) was off duty during the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, Jennylyn could only manage to tweet regarding the Rappler tweet and report with, “Uhmm…”

According to Tarlac police chief who confirmed that Nuezca was off duty at that time, President Duterte issued an order to bring policemen’s permanent-issued short firearm during their off-duty.
“Nagkaroon din ng directive sa atin mahal na Presidente noon na yung mga off-duty, they are allowed to carry their firearms,” said Police Colonel Renante Cabico in an interview with DZBB.
“Kasi nga po may mga insidente kung saan alam naman natin, yung krimen nangyayari sa hindi natin inaasahan,” the police chief added.
In the same article, PNP Chief Debold Sinas was also quoted that there’s no need for the traditional muzzling of guns during the holidays because police officers now are more disciplined than before.
“May self-restraint at disiplina na ang karamihan sa amin and proven na maski may tape ka, kung gusto mo magbaril, gagawin mo,” he said.
A statement that might have also cause Jennylyn to react that way.
Meanwhile, the viral shooting that killed Sonia and Frank Gregorio was met with outrage from the Netizens who called for Philippine National Police reforms.
In slamming Nuezca’s heartless action, Netizens also called out other police officers and die-hard Duterte supporters who instead of condemning the act went on to justify it and tried blaming the victims instead.
