Maxine Medina joins cast of GMA Network’s ‘First Yaya’

Maxine gave a hint about her character in the series as she posted a photo of herself taken during the lock-in taping for the series.

Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2016 Maxine Medina is now a Kapuso as she is set to be a part of GMA Network’s ‘First Yaya.’ Prior to her transfer, the beauty queen was with the ABS-CBN network.

On her Instagram post on November 26, Maxine gave a hint about her character in the series as she posted a photo of herself taken during the lock-in taping for the series.

“meet Lorraine,” she wrote on Instagram.

She also posted a group photo with the main character Sanya Lopez along with Cai Cortez and Kakai Bautista who were the “yayas” (maids) in the upcoming series.

Maxine hinted that her character would be mean to Sanya as she captioned her Instagram post as, “You are lucky that I included you to my photoshoot Melody. Next time not anymore… 😏 #firstyaya”

Sanya replied through the comments by jokingly stating that she was just forced to take a picture by Lorraine (Maxine).

“Pinilit nyo nga lang po ako mam loraine . La naman akong choice 🙄🙄😝😝” Sanya wrote.

The beauty queen also promoted the show as she invited her followers to anticipate her character in the upcoming TV series.

“#FIRSTYAYA abangan niyo po si Lorraine 💋 #gma7” she wrote.

First Yaya was announced as part of the line up of GMA Network’s new shows in celebration of the network’s 70th anniversary. The series originally had Marian Rivera as the lead actress but she withdrew from the project in September 2020 because she didn’t want to be in a lock-in taping.

In a previous interview, Marian said that she can’t be in a lock-in taping as she needs to take care of her two children one-year-old Sixto and four-year-old Zia.

“Kasi, mahirap sa akin naka-lock in, hindi ko makikita ang mga anak. Nagpapadede pa ako kay Sixto, inaasikaso ko pa si Zia sa online class niya,” she said.

“Tapos, hindi ako uuwi ng bahay? “Sabi ko, ‘Naku, paano ito, hindi ko kakayanin’,” she added.

Marian was then replaced by Sanya Lopez in October 2020 as the filming was resumed in November 2020 but with the strict implementation of the pandemic safety protocols.

Maxine Medina represented the Philippines at the 65th Miss Universe pageant and placed in the Top 6. She was known as the first-ever Philippine contestant to use an interpreter during the Miss Universe Q&A round.

She was a part of several films such as Beauty in a Bottle (2014), Kusina Kings (2018), and Hello, Love. Goodbye (2019). She also had several TV series projects like Hanggang Saan (2017), Los Bastardos (2018), and Beauty Queens (2020).
