Aside from television, GMA network also claimed top spot in Mega Manila AM and FM radio stations.

GMA Network has claimed leadership in Philippine TV based on the numbers reported by AGB Nielsen despite not having a viable rival with the shutdown of ABS-CBN.

Based on the data covering January to December 2020, GMA lands as the most-watched TV channel in the Total Philippines getting 48.3% audience share and reaching 98.5% of 84.1 million viewers nationwide.

The report also showed GMA network leading Total Luzon, Total Visayas, and Total Mindanao.

For Luzon and Visayas, GMA recorded 49.8% and 47.7% audience share respectively getting net reach of 98.6%.

For Mindanao meanwhile, GMA registered an audience share of 42.4% reaching 97.9% households.

Meanwhile, during the months where ABS-CBN was still on free TV (January 1 to May 5, 2020), GMA claimed getting 33.1% audience share and 95% household reach.

Aside from television, GMA network also claimed top spot in Mega Manila AM and FM radio stations.

Using Nielsen’s Radio Audience Measurement, Kapuso network’s Super Radyo DZBB registered 41.9% audience share against Mega Manila AM stations which translates to 2.3 million listeners as of December 2020.

Its FM station Barangay LS 97.1 on the other hand got 29.5% audience share versus other FM stations and a reach of 4.8 million listeners as of December 2020.

GMA’s most worthy rival ABS-CBN has been shut down since May 5 following the expiration of its franchise and the cease and desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission.

Along with the TV station ABS-CBN channel 2, AM radio station DZMM 630 and FM radio station MOR 101.9 also went off air following the non-renewal of its franchise.
