Actor Janus del Prado, on Friday, February 19, is saying adieu to Star Magic. The ABS-CBN’s talent management agency took care of the actor’s career for the past 21 years.

Prado announced on social media post and decided to become a freelancer once his contract with Star Magic ends next month.

As he celebrates the special anniversary, the 36-year-old Kapamilya actor recalled his humble beginnings on ABS-CBN by posting throwback photos of him during his teenage years.

He thanked the ABS-CBN’s talent management arm for it launched his career as one of the members of the Star Circle Batch 9.

“Thank you Star Magic (Talent Center) for making me a part of your family for more than 2 decades (21 years). From when I was just 15, training to be one of your talents in Star Circle Batch 9 (which I am) to Gmik, Qpids, etc, to now that I’m 36 years old doing Tito roles. Next month, my management contract with you may end but not my support and love for the whole Star Magic Family. I will always and forever be grateful. It has been one hell of a ride. Till we meet again. #freelancer #tonewbeginnings #starmagic #talentcenter,” wrote @janusdelprado on his latest Instagram post.

Back in 2000, Coco Martin, Angel Locsin, Heart Evangelista, Rafael Rusell, and Alwyn Uytingco were among Prado’s batchmates in Star Circle Batch 9, along with many others.

The weekly youth-oriented show, G-mik was Prado’s first project on ABS-CBN as a Star Magic artist which aired in 2000.

Qpids, on the other hand, was a reality love team search, which was broadcast on the Kapamilya channel in 2005.

Among the actor’s teleseryes on ABS-CBN included Lobo in 2008, A Beautiful Affair in 2012, The Legal Wife in 2014, and The Story of Us in 2016.

Starla was his last teleserye as Kapamilya in 2019.

Prado was best known for his ‘bestfriend’ role in Star Cinema’s blockbuster film One More Chance in 2007, which starred the famous Bea Alonzo-John Llyod Cruz tandem.

He also appeared in the films Four Sisters and A Wedding in 2013 and A Second Chance in 2015.

Recently, with the launch of the group BGYO and the rise of Pinoy pop, actor Janus del Prado questioned the tagging of P-pop as original content from Filipinos.

Prado took to social media where he criticized the clothing and musical styles of the P-pop groups, dubbed them as ‘photocopy’ of Korean Pop groups for they do not embody the Filipino identity.

But later he explained that he has nothing against both K-pop and the so-called P-pop groups.

He even agreed with the BGYO’s talent but urged fellow countrymen not to push with P-pop as an original genre.

He then suggested that it would be more appropriate to use the term Korean-Pinoy Pop or KP-pop.
