With production courtesy of Retro1, atmospheric pads and deep bass create a lush texture. Vocal samples float through the haze, and 1stNameQueen’s lyrics wind and weave above, a sensual centrepiece.
“‘Call Me Up’ is about those late night calls you get from guys, but from a woman’s perspective,” she explains. “A woman who knows her worth and knows what she wants and how she wants it.”
Not only exceptional musically, the video for the track is extremely professional and well put together, shot by her in-house content team Chapter.002. Cutting from stylishly lit car interiors to 1stNameQueen at home getting ready, it mirrors the vibe of the song perfectly.
Growing up on the Southside of Chicago, she has never forgotten her roots, even if she is far from home on the east coast. With a passion for singing stemming from a young age, 1stNameQueen tells relatable and soulful stories in an R&B tone.
