Last March 2020, Claudine’s manager Bianca Lapus confirmed that the actress is preparing for her comeback in show business and that part of her preparation included her diet.
Lapus revealed that Barretto concentrated on her self-improvement, particularly her appearance, as she already began her diet to be physically fit for her comeback.
Claudine was supposedly to return earlier for the film UnTrue. However, the film’s director, Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, admitted that she felt a little disappointed when Claudine didn’t end up in her movie. Bernardo later found a replacement in the person of Cristine Reyes.
Barretto was discovered in 1992 by the late talent manager Douglas Quijano through her older sister-actress Gretchen Barretto. In the same year, she earned her first television role when she became part of ABS-CBN’s youth-oriented variety show, Ang TV.
She was part of the cast in the comedy sitcom Home Along Da Riles, which led to her official film debut in 1993 with the TV show’s film adaptation.
Barretto is recognized as The Optimum Star following her well-acclaimed performances in drama series like Mula sa Puso (1997-1999), Saan Ka Man Naroroon (1999-2001), Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan (2001-2003), Marina (2004), Iisa Pa Lamang (2006), and box-office hit films Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita (1998), Anak (2000), Got 2 Believe (2002), Kailangan Kita (2002), Milan (2004), Nasaan Ka Man (2005), Sukob (2006), and Etiquette for Mistresses (2015).
Her film Got 2 Believe, which she co-starred with her former boyfriend, the late Rico Yan, was a box-office success, with some critics hailing it as one of the best romcoms of all time and inspiring a slew of sequels.
Barretto has won two FAMAS Awards for Best Actress for the films Milan opposite Piolo Pascual and Nasaan Ka Man with actors Jericho Rosales and Diether Ocampo. She also won Luna Award for Best Actress for the same movie Milan.
In 2016, she earned the Dangal ng PASADO sa Pangkatang Pagganap ng may Mataas na Papuri at the 18th Gawad PASADO Awards for her 2015 film Etiquette for Mistresses.
Barretto surprised the local media when she left her long-time network ABS-CBN and joined rival company GMA Network in November 2009.
However, she returned to the big screen in 2015, appearing alongside Kim Chiu, Iza Calzado, Cheena Crab, and Kris Aquino in Chito S. Roño’s Star Cinema film Etiquette for Mistresses.
In 2016, she joined the TV5 Network and starred in Joel Lamangan’s drama series Bakit Manipis ang Ulap? (which also starred Diether Ocampo, Meg Imperial, and Cesar Montano).
In 2020, the actress signed a management contract with ALV Talent Circuit.
