After his controversial tweet, adviser for the National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) Teddy Herbosa, after facing the backlash of his tweet pleaded to the public to end blame culture.
Talking about the Philippines’ failed pandemic response, the NTF adviser envied other countries that contained the spread of Covid-19 in their respective countries.
“I envy the other countries. Like Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan,” said Herbosa during an interview with Christian Esguerra of ANC News on Monday, April 26.
Herbosa said that he is jealous of these countries because the people follow the Government.
“… the people follow the government, follow the advice of medical scientists, and follow the advice of human behavior. They can easily beat this virus and even before the vaccines came, these countries were able to cut down transmission,” added Herbosa.
Esguerra then asked whether the people are entirely to blame for the situation of the country or if it’s about the leadership of the current administration.
Herbosa answered by highlighting his background. The NTF adviser explained that health systems are not at fault given the pandemic situation of the country.
“I was a former undersecretary of the Health Department and I know how the health system works. And health systems are difficult,” said Herbosa.
With his knowledge of how the health system works, Herbosa stressed that people should refrain from becoming part of a “culture of blame” because it is “wrong”.
“You cannot blame in systems. You should remove the blame culture. Because if you blame the failure of the system on one person, you are already wrong.
“I’m not blaming anyone. I’m saying behavior. Again, you (referring to Esguerra) will need to change the way you look at what I say. Because I am talking from a technical perspective,” clarified Herbosa.
Contrary to what he asked for the public, activist Renato Reyes Jr. shared a compilation of how Herbosa constantly blamed the people and defended the government against its incompetence.
Reyes shared Herbosa’s opinion during the controversial separation of a jailed Reina Mae Nasino and her three-month-old baby who died. While the public is busy condemning the Government’s actions in separating the two, the NTF adviser back then blamed not the Administration, but the family of the infant, River Nasino.

In a succeeding tweet, Reyes, showed how Herbosa attempted to stop activists in UP from protesting the anti-terror law. He spread a piece of fake news about six protesters dying from Covid-19 as an aftermath of the rally.

After the tragedy that happened in Angel Locsin’s birthday-cum-community pantry, Herbosa tweeted, “Death by ‘Community Pantry’. I told you so!“. He blamed Locsin for the death of one Ronaldo Dela Cruz who stood in line and waited for his turn to receive goods for the actress’s food bank.
Yesterday he blamed the death of a senior citizen on the community pantry and punctuated this by another “I told you so!”. How long before the UP administration takes action against this disgrace to the institution? pic.twitter.com/P9sMe9Xo74

And after being bashed Herbosa tendered his resignation as a UP exec and was announced by UP on Sunday, April 25.
