During this pandemic, the competition for TV ratings, especially for primetime remains tough. GMA Network’s First Yaya, with Sanya Lopez and Gabby Concepcion as lead stars–remains to be the most-watched teleserye every weeknight and continues to earn admirations.
However, ABS-CBN’s longest-running teleserye FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano continues its air despite not having a franchise.
Based on the data of AGB Neilsen on April 21, First Yaya earned 21.9%, 9.3% for FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, and 7.9% for Huwag Kang Mangamba.
Considering the limited reach of ABS-CBN, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano strives to keep up with the competition.
There were rumors that the Kapamilya series, starred by Coco Martin will only have nine cycles of taping before saying it bids goodbye.
Currently, they are on their seventh cycle so, it is estimated that they will end in July.
With that, there is a possibility that First Yaya will be the last rival show of the longest-running show FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Though FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano lags from its rival First Yaya in terms of TV ratings, it still overpowers the latter in the online presence.
