Christian Bables’ impersonation of Mike Hanopol in Week 10 secured him his first victory in “Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3” last Sunday (May 9) on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z.
Christian’s intense rendition of Mike’s classic OPM rock song “Laki sa Layaw” earned him 30 points, including the highest votes from jurors Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, and Sharon Cuneta.
After his breakout performance, the “New Breed Actor” turned emotional as he revealed he had difficulties preparing for the number.
“Sobrang gusto ko siyang i-perform ng maayos. During the rehearsals, it felt like my voice was failing me. But, ang galing ni God talaga,” shared Christian.
Nevertheless, Gary called his performance “amazing,” Sharon said it was his “best so far,” while Ogie saw “something magical” in what he did.
As he accepted his trophy and P50,000 cash prize as the 10th weekly winner, Christian thanked the jury and his co-contestants for believing in him.
“Bago ko pinaniwalaan ‘yung sarili ko, kayo muna ‘yung naniwala sa akin. Grabe. Sobra. Maraming, maraming salamat po talaga.”
With the Grand Showdown approaching and through the guidance of celebrity mentors Jed Madela and Nyoy Volante, all seven remaining celebrity performers turned in jaw-dropping transformations and performances as expected, including Geneva Cruz, who is back in the fold after three weeks.
Still heartbroken from her mother’s passing, the Pop Royalty gave her all in her performance as Toni Braxton, especially as it was her mom that wanted her to return to the competition.
“Inaalay ko ito para sa aking Mama kasi siya ‘yung number one fan ko talaga simula nung bata ako. So para sa kanya ‘to and fan siya ng Your Face Sounds Familiar,” Geneva said.
Next week, Geneva will take the stage as Selena, CJ Navato will be John Legend, Lie Reposposa will come out as Sampaguita, and Vivoree Esclito will transform into Miley Cyrus. Completing the lineup are Klarisse de Guzman as Aretha Franklin, iDolls as Ben and Ben and Moira de la Torre, and Christian as Alice Cooper.
