Former Eat Bulaga! host Ruby Rodriguez finally spoke about her absence from the noontime show and said that she is unsure whether it is ‘pain’ or ‘disappointment’ she is feeling.
Since the return of GMA Network’s longest-running noontime show to live broadcasting, many viewers noticed Rodriguez’s absence.
She is one of the regular hosts of the show, and she’s with the production for 30 years.
Recently, she signed under Viva Artists Agency, and during the virtual press conference on Monday, May 31, she got cornered had to answer about her absence from Eat Bulaga!
Before, whenever she is asked about her exit from Eat Bulaga, she [always] resorted to referring the matter to the bosses of the said show. It is because she also does not know what to reply; since it is still unclear.
When asked about her feelings, she is confused or is at a loss for words or she lacked the appropriate word to describe her feelings.
“Aaahh, paano ko ba sasabihin? Iniisip ko kung malaki o maliit.
“Hindi ko alam kung pain ang word or disappointed, kasi siyempre I’ve been with you for 31 years and just like that.
“I mean, walang pagpapahalaga ba? I mean, ‘yun ang naging question ko lang.”
She said that Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna knew about her plans of working in the USA.
She also talked about it with TAPE Incorporated’s CEO Tony Tuviera.
“Nung makausap ko si Boss Tony Tuviera hindi pa ako nagpa-file ng leave of absence. Verbal pa lang yung agreement namin.
“Ipa-file ko pa lang ‘yung leave ng March 2020 kung aalis na ako.
“Hindi pa naman ako umaalis, bakit ako magpa-file ‘coz I’m going to file it a month before I leave.”
So, she did not really leave the show because she only asked for a leave of absence.
“Ang sabi sa akin ni Mr. Tuviera, ‘You will always have a home here in Eat Bulaga.’ At siyempre, inasahan ko ‘yon.
“So, when they started to go on air, it’s their decision kung sinong pababalikin nila.”
That’s why, when people asked about her Eat Bulaga! exit, she always referred them to the management for an answer.
“Ang makasasagot lang kung tinanggal ako o hindi ay sila. That’s why I always say, ‘Please ask them.’
“I don’t know how they will answer it. If they were going to say, ‘Ito ba ay leave?'”
No matter what the management’s decision is, Rodriguez, assured that she always respects that.
“With regards if they take you out just like that, they just drop you like a hot potato, I think it’s them who can answer that.”
In the same interview, she also revealed that her family migrated to the US for 10 years now which is why she has been on and off from Eat Bulaga! before.
“I need to exit because of my status. So I’ve been going back and forth to the US.”
Currently, she is being managed by Viva Films, her home agency. She also landed a new job at the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, California.
