Broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez revealed that she had offers to do a movie project with the late actor star, Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) but she turned it down.
In an interview with Sanchez for Philstar’s Slam Book show, she mentioned that she was flattered with the movie project proposal but she chose to remain as a newscaster back then.
“So, to be an artista, well yes, there were offers for an FPJ movie, believe it or not, before. Of course, I was already a newscaster then, so I said, ‘No, thank you, kilig ako.’ I also guested in a few sitcoms as a journalist. I also believe in sticking to your forte. Because if you grow in one area, then you have a better chance of becoming bigger in that field,” she said.
Sanchez revealed that she had plans of entering showbiz since performing is in her blood. But she also had an interest in writing that’s why she became a broadcast journalist.
“When I was very little, I used to pray to God to make me an artista. I think performance is really in my blood. My mother was a singer, and I’ve always liked to perform, but as I was getting older, I also liked writing a lot.
“So I told myself when I was choosing my course before college that I wanted to get into something that crosses over into both performance and writing. That’s why I became a broadcast journalist,” she shared.
Sanchez currently hosts Rated Korina which is a television newscast show. It features unique and inspiring stories of people.
Since the shut down of ABS-CBN, her original show Rated K, moved to TV5 under Brightlight Productions.
Her show was then rebranded as Rated Korina and aired every Saturday at 4:00 pm since October last year.
Sanchez then returned to ABS-CBN as Rated Korina was recently made available in The Filipino Channel (TFC) which is a subscription TV network owned by the ABS-CBN Corporation.
