Kapuso Andrea Torres who stars in the teleserye Legal Wives, shared how the series helped her understand polygamy in the Muslim Culture.
During her media conference for her contract renewal, Torres said she learned through the teleserye that polygamy is a selfless act.
“Kumbaga kung may babaeng nangangailangan, kunwari na-byuda s’ya or na-rape s’ya ganyan, parang it’s a way of saving, of helping the person. So may deeper meaning s’ya.”
She admitted that she felt challenged with the complexity of her role in Legal Wives.
“More of ano po ‘yung challenge kasi is kailangan maintindihan s’ya. Kasi mayroon s’yang mga gagawin dito na parang naku parang out of character na ata.
However, she highlighted how much research went into the teleserye and how Legal Wives can help Filipinos appreciate Muslim culture in the country.
Kasi mayroon po kaming Imam on set and may Muslim din kami on set na talagang binabantayan talaga ‘yung kilos.
“So at least, that way, mas makikisama tayo ng mas maayos sa kanila. Kasi mas naiintindihan natin ‘yung kilos nila.”
Torres renewed her contract with GMA Network on July 16. As for Legal Wives, she joins the cast of Kapuso’s upcoming teleserye along with Dennis Trillo as her leading man, Alice Dixson, and Bianca Umali. It will air on July 26.
