Lifetrack’s Innovative Medical Imaging Platform Enables Inclusive Healthcare for Emerging Countries

16 July 2021, Manila Philippines – Lifetrack Medical Systems, a growing health-tech startup and one of the 2020 Emerge X Competition winners, joins hands with Microsoft to further accelerate its innovations in medical imaging and enable better healthcare access for people in developing markets.

According to the World Health Organization, two-thirds of the world does not have access to basic radiology. In the Philippines, for every 100 million Filipinos, there are only about 1,500 radiologists. Lifetrack is filling this gap by using technology to maximize the scarcity of radiologists and enable health care to millions of people who have limited or no access to it. To date, over 2 million patient studies across 12 different countries have been diagnosed using Lifetrack’s platform.

“Our mission is to bring healthcare, particularly medical imaging, to two-thirds of the world that has no access to it. We can do this by improving the efficiency of radiologists and using the latest technologies to ensure that healthcare is accessible to all,” said Dr. Eric Schulze, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Lifetrack Medical Systems. “Gaining recognition from Microsoft helps us connect with governments and potential partners, which will empower us to scale up our platform and further break down barriers and democratize medical accessibility.”

The Philippines and Singapore-based health tech company offers hybrid on-premise/cloud-based solution that enables affordable access, rapid transmission, and aggregation of medical imaging for emerging markets. Lifetrack’s LifeSys platform simplifies radiologists’ workflows by connecting and distributing medical images from imaging centers to hospitals and single to multiple sites, including remote areas within a single platform. This lowers treatment costs and makes medical imaging possible anytime, anywhere.

“Lifetrack’s innovative solution is a game-changer in the medical field. By making radiology more accessible and cost-efficient, treating illnesses and saving lives of people in developing countries become more within reach,” said Abid Zaidi, Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft Philippines. “Nurturing and empowering startups both in the Philippines and across the world is a key imperative for us at Microsoft. There is so much potential among our digital natives and we believe that with the right support, these natural innovators can potentially catalyze creative disruption in the economy—creating new opportunities as well as new markets”.

Lifetrack is one of the four winners in Microsoft’s inaugural regional Emerge X competition held at the Philippine Startup week last year. Microsoft will provide Lifetrack access to its Microsoft Azure platform as well as an intensive mentorship and support program to accelerate its growth. The Emerge X Program sits within Microsoft’s Highway to a 100 Unicorns initiative, which discovers, and nurtures high potential technology startups & grows the ecosystem in emerging markets across APAC.

“Being part of the Highway to 100 Unicorns will open more opportunities for us which in turn will improve affordable access to medical imaging to more people around the world. We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Microsoft to drive innovation forward for the benefit of all,” said Dr. Schulze.
