Despite ABS-CBN’s shutdown, it continues to be in the service of the Filipino through its upcoming shows and movies in 2021-2022.
On Thursday, November 11, the Kapamilya network teased fans of their 23 new offerings via twitter.
Check out the details about their upcoming ABS-CBN shows and movies.
1. Love is Color Blind.
Love is Color Blind is Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano’s first movie together after the success of their debut series He’s Into Her. It will be filmed in Hong Kong.
On Friday, November 5, Star Cinema teased a bit of the story when they posted images with a caption: “CARAmihan ng tao naghahanap ng magmamahal sa kanila, ang tanong, sINO.”
2. Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer.
Arjo Atayde is set to lead the Rebirth of the Truth series, based on the 1996 Star Cinema film Sa Aking Mga Kamay, top-billed by Aga Muhlach.
The story tells about a serial killer who preys on unfaithful wives.
It is a project under ABS-CBN’s International Production and Co-Production division. Dan Villegas will be the director of the upcoming thriller series.
3. 2 Good 2 Be True.
It is an upcoming Philippine drama romantic comedy television series starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
It is slated to air in 2022 on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z. The show’s ensemble cast will include Kristel Fulgar, Bianca de Vera, Pamu Pamorada, Matt Evans, Gillian Vicencio, Yves Flores, and Alyssa Muhlach. TV veterans Gelli de Belen, Smokey Manaloto, Romnick Sarmenta, Cris Villanueva, Jenny Miller, Irma Adlawan, Gloria Diaz, and Ronaldo Valdez will also be joining the cast.
4. He’s into Her Season 2.
The phenomenal series He’s Into Her, starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, is returning for a second season.
ABS-CBN announced on Friday, August 6 during the Benison Ball online concert. He’s Into Her is based on the books by Maxine Lat and directed by Chad Vidanes. It tells the story of Max, a girl from a small town who agrees to live with her wealthy father in Manila. She later fell in love with Deib, the school’s varsity captain.
5. The Broken Marriage Vow.
It is a Philippine drama psychological thriller television series based on the British drama series Doctor Foster, and will star Jodi Sta. Maria, Zanjoe Marudo, Sue Ramirez, and Zaijian Jaranilla. The Broken Marriage Vow will be directed by Concepcion Macatuno of Glorious fame.
It follows the story of Dr. Jill Ilustre (Sta. Maria), a successful doctor whose marriage is on the verge of collapse as she suspects her husband David Ilustre (Marudo) of having an affair.
6. Flower of Evil, a Philippine Adaptation.
Lovi Poe and Piolo Pascual are teaming up for the upcoming Philippine adaptation of the hit K-drama Flower of Evil.
The Korean series tells the story of Baek Hee-sung (Lee Joon-gi), a man who hides his identity and past from his wife Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won), a detective.
Other details about the project have yet to be announced.
7. Darna, the TV series.
The much-awaited series, based on the iconic Filipino superheroine created by Mars Ravelo, is top-billed by Kapamilya star Jane de Leon.
Award-winning young actors Joshua Garcia and Zaijian Jaranilla will also join De Leon in the series.
It will be produced by ABS-CBN’s JRB Creative Production and directed by Chito Roño. This is considered to be the biggest project of ABS-CBN for 2022.
8. PhilJie’s Heart.
ABS-CBN production unit, RCD Narratives announced via twitter on Thursday, August 19, that they will continue Phil and Benjie’s story in PhilJie’s Heart, a side story of A Soldier’s Heart.
Phil and Benjie’s characters were portrayed by Jerome Ponce and Yves Flores in the 2020 war-drama series.
9. Love in 40 Days.
Love in 40 Days is Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte teleserye comeback. Dreamscape Entertainment teased fans about the series by posting screenshot of a virtual meeting among its cast and creative heads on Thursday, September 9.
The series will also star Elisse Joson, Katrina Legaspi, Renshi de Guzman, Vaughn Piczon, Zabel Maberth, and Mark Rivera.
10. After Forever.
The San Francisco-set movie of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, After Forever, was announced in February 2020 with Cathy Garcia-Molina as director.
After Forever is the much-anticipated comeback film of KathNiel.
11. LizQuen movie.
Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil are poised to make their big-screen comeback.
According to Ogie Diaz, the Star Cinema film will be helmed by Cathy Garcia Molina. Diaz said that they would just like to wait for the cases of COVID-19 to flatten before they begin filming.
The film is still untitled and no other details were revealed.
12. Ang mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan.
Joshua Garcia will portray as Galo, the lead role, on the film adaptation of the mystery novel by Bob Ong, Ang mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan.
Producer Black Sheep announced the film in February 2020 which story revolves around a student who is thrust into a mystery involving his grandmother, the titular Susan.
13. Not Me.
Not Me is a 2021 BL Thai television series that officially premiered on GMM 25 original network in Thailand. The series is led by Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat (Black/White) and Off Jumpol Adulkittiporn (Sean).
14. Enchantè.
It’s a television romantic BL series that premiered on GMM 25 original network in Thailand in 2021. The series’ story is directed by Film Pawis Sowsrion and producer by X Nuttapong Mongkolsawas.
15. Baker Boys.
Baker Boys tells the story of Punn, the handsome owner of a popular bakery shop and the son of a billionaire. It is based on Yoshinaga Fumi’s manga Antique Bakery.
16. F4 Thailand.
It is an adaptation of the Japanese shōjo manga series Boys Over Flowers by Yoko Kamio, the series serves as the Thai counterpart of the franchise from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and China.
The 2021 series starred Tontawan Tantivejakul (Tu), Vachirawit Chiva-aree (Bright), Jirawat Sutivanichsak (Dew), Metawin Opas-iamkajorn (Win) and Hirunkit Changkham (Nani).
17. The Great Show.
The Great Show is a 2019 South Korean television series starring Song Seung-heon, Lee Sun-bin, and Lim Ju-hwan.
The series’ story revolves around Wi Dae-han (Song Seung-heon), a former politician who took in a young girl and her three siblings when their mother died. Together they grew as a family and put on ‘the great show’ for him to become a politician again.
18. Keys to the Heart Adaptation.
Released in 2018, South Korea’s drama film Keys to the Heart centers on a former boxing titlist who reconnects with his estranged brother, a piano prodigy with savant syndrome.
The Philippine adaptation of the film is under development at ABS-CBN Films, its managing director Olivia Lamasan has announced in October 2020. It will star Joshua Garcia, Zaijan Jaranilla, and Charo Santos-Concio.
19. Saying Goodbye.
Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin are set to lead in the upcoming series, Saying Goodbye.
It will center on the romance of Elise (Brillantes) and Ricky (Fedelin), an unlikely match brought together by their shared passion for music and adventure. It is an iQiyi original offering produced by ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment.
20. Love at First Stream.
Love at First Stream is the first Star Cinema x kumu movie to be made under the helm of Blockbuster Director Cathy Garcia-Molina. Love At First Stream tells the story of a streamer, a student, a breadwinner, and a heartthrob as they explore love and friendships online to escape their realities offline.
It will star Kaori Oinuma, Daniela Stranner, Jeremiah Lisbo, and Anthony Jennings.
21. A Sitcom.
Piolo Pascual is tapped to lead a romantic-comedy series with Angelica Panganiban. The title of the series has yet to be revealed.
22. Hello Heart.
Hello, Heart will feature the first onscreen tandem of Gerald Anderson and singer Gigi de Lana.
The series is co-produced by Asian entertainment streaming platforms iQiyi and ABS-CBN. It is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Heart and Saul who pretended to be husband and wife to please the latter’s grandmother who suffers from dementia.
It has been more than a year since ABS-CBN got compelled to shut down. Amid the challenging times, the Network proved to have the capability of reinventing its ways to reach and serve its audience. The Network shifted to streaming its programs to digital platforms while also bringing in new, fresh content.
