Young actor-dancer Bugoy Cariño defended partner EJ Laure from critics who judge her based on her physical appearance.
On November 5, Cariño addressed the critics of Laure via the comment section of his TikTok video.
In the TikTok video, Cariño and Laure danced together with a Nicki Minaj song. However, the video received unpleasant comments from netizens who judged Laure based on her looks.
But for Cariño, he rather choose a wife who is “mukhang bakla, mukhang nanay, walang laman, parang pader,” than a woman who is “puro ganda at laki osus lang laban.”
He disregards these comments because, at least, Laure is a good housewife.
“At least si EJ marunong sa mga gawaing bahay, madiskarte, at higit sa lahat loyal. Baka yung mga nagcocomment dyan yung mga jowa niyo walang alam sa buhay.”
Cariño also pointed out that physical characteristics should be set aside in choosing a partner for life in the present generation.
“Sa panahon ngayon hindi mo kailangan magjowa ng maitsura or malaki cocomelon, mas masarap mahalin yung madiskarte at hindi maarte at syempre loyal.”
The relationship between Laure and Cariño became controversial because they had a child even though Cariño was still underaged.
Way back in 2018, rumors circulated that Laure got pregnant. However, Laure and Cariño, who were 21 and 16, respectively, at that time, denied the speculations.
However, last year in September, during the 18th birthday of Cariño, he revealed that they already have a daughter, confirming the rumors a few years ago.
Cariño entered showbiz via the ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Quest, where he was hailed as the grand winner while Laure was the former team captain of the UST Golden Tigresses volleyball team and also a former Philippine national team member.
