Claudine Barretto deleted the post that featured her ex-beau and the late Rico Yan’s love letter to her after netizens doubted its authenticity.
On Tuesday, November 16 via Instagram, the actress shared a letter dated September 7, 1998.
It read, “Hunny, Just wanted you to know that you are the Best thing that has happened in my life. You Are My Life! While i watch you sleep i cant believe your mine. Thank You For Being my ROCK! and Hunny “YOU ROCK” I Love You Very Much Hunny.”
Barretto captioned her post, “Double infinity. RYCB & Claudinians, this is for all of [you].”
But many netizens questioned the authenticity of the handwritten love letter as they noticed that the penmanship used is different from Yan’s older letters.
In 2016, Barretto also posted two old notes from him.
A netizen named Jonh Paul Seño described the things he noticed from the recently posted love letter of Yan from the previous ones.
In response to the questions of the netizens, Barretto insisted that it was Yan who wrote the love letter.
A netizen on Instagram also noted that the penmanship in the love letter is similar to Claudine’s and the paper used looks new.
A netizen said, “Kita ko lang po na same penmanship nung letter na binigay mo for your mam and it’s different from rico’s and the paper looks new when it’s been 19 years since he passed away. No hate po, I am a big fan of ur loveteam but just wanna ask if it did write this and pinost or cinopy nyo lang. Much love po.”
Barretto then replied, “no not my writing.”
A netizen asked, “It is your penmanship po miss clau i think but did he somehow wrote or said this to you?”
Barretto replied to the netizen, “My penmanship po is ASSUPTION PENMANSHIP PO.”
Barretto and Yan’s loveteam was among the most popular in the late ’90s and 2000’s.
The two started dating each other when they worked together in Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita (1998).
It was on March 4, 1998, when the two officially confirmed their relationship. On their fourth anniversary, March 4, 2002, the couple called it quits.
Yan died on March 29, 2002, due to hemorrhagic pancreatitis while on vacation at Dos Palmas Resort in Palawan.
