Luis Manzano admitted he was shocked learning about the budding romance between his father Edu Manzano and Cherry Pie Picache.
In an interview on December 1, he was asked about his opinion regarding his father having a blossoming relationship with a fellow co-star in the Marry Me, Marry You romantic-comedy series.
“Kung maibabalik ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN next year, baka si Daddy at Tita Pie, itapat sa KathNiel,” Luis jokingly said.
He shared that no one expected his father would have a relationship with Picache.
“Sobrang we were caught off-guard. No one saw it coming. I don’t even think Dad and Tita Pie saw it coming.”
Luis recalled a friend of his sent him a photo of the two, spotted having a dinner date.
“I think a friend of mine took a picture with them and he sent me a picture. He was with Daddy and Tita Pie. Date night yata sila. So I sent the picture back to Daddy. I said, ‘Uy daddy, happy boy ka.’ Sabi niya, ‘Yes anak, happy.’”
Luis shared that he respects his father for how he treats his partner, saying he is happy seeing his father with Picache.
“It would boil down to the same thing, kung paano niya nirerespeto ang kanyang kasama. That’s one thing na nakikita ko kay Daddy. How he takes care of his partner talaga. Nakikita ko rin naman how happy he is with Tita Pie,” he shared.
In the series Marry Me, Marry You, Edu and Picache play the characters of Emilio and Elvira. They are the parents of Andrei, portrayed by Paulo Avelino.
