Why You Should See It:
It’s not difficult to see that oversized charm that this new daytime series from GMA network, is brimming with. There are plenty of familiar themes and beats to establish the right hooks in viewers, and it won’t be surprising if the show further capitalizes on that. Jo Berry is an entire ball of loveliness, herself, but there seems to be a lot more sweetness to indulge upon in Princess’s charmingly inspiring story, itself.
Little Princess follows the titular character played by Jo Berry. Years earlier, her mother Elise (Angelika de la Cruz) engaged in a forbidden affair with the wealthy businessman, Marcus Montivano (Jestoni Alarcon). When she finally decided she had to stop the affair, she learned that she was bearing Marcus’s child, a thing she became determined to keep at all cost.
Once her family’s difficult and impoverished situation dawns on her, Princess knows she has to work hard to make things better. Despite her becoming a constant target for bullies, Princess lives her life with positivity and optimism. She knows how to confront those who belittle her, and she has the angst when she needs to. That said, her life has the makings of a Cinderella story—she’ll have to confront forms of evil, that is.
In this fairytale, the wicked stepmother is Odessa (Geneva Cruz). On their first meeting alone, Odessa already gives Princess a glimpse of her wickedness, so imagine what misery she can still give her husband’s illegitimate daughter once the truth gets exposed.
Little Princess marks Jo Berry’s return to acting, nearly two years after starring the primetime series, The Gift, alongside Alden Richards.
The 27-year-old midget female star first made waves with the inspiring drama, Onanay, where she charmed viewers playing the title role. That charm remains with her as she takes on Princess, and same with what she did in Onanay, Jo Berry promises to melt hearts once more.
