Several social media personalities took to Twitter to share their reactions to Enchong Dee’s surrender for his cyber libel case.

Award-winning writer Jerry Gracio in his tweet said it is high time to decriminalize libel because onion-skinned politicians are abusing it. He also urged reform on the party-list system to ensure that only those marginalized and disadvantaged sectors would be given the congressional seat.

Former PBB housemate Justin Dizon also shared the same sentiment on decriminalizing libel, saying it is being used or weaponized by “onion-skinned public officials.”

“Libel should really be decriminalized.”

“Onion-skinned public officials always weaponize it against people who criticize them.”

Atty. Nico Quejano, meanwhile, just tweeted the hashtag #FreeDee in support of Enchong.

Meanwhile, other netizens also shared their support for Enchong.

@iamhirokitty said the Philippines should follow the lead of other countries that have already decriminalized libel. He also adds, “Free Enchong Dee.”

Another netizen, @agitnaemman, also tweeted his view of decriminalizing libel.

@aynihatesu meanwhile said Enchong’s warrant is unfair comparing adding it sends a chilling effect to ordinary citizens who want to voice their opinions.

@khendelgado also said that Enchong’s case is alarming, which looked like people are not allowed now to speak freely and express their opinions towards politicians.
