On March 23, Ogie Alcasid recalled his early days as a Kapamilya during the Showtime Kapamilya Contract Signing event.
Alcasid said he felt blessed at home while reliving his younger years with the Kapamilya Network.
“Actually, gusto kong magbalik tanaw at alam ni Tita Cory [Vidanes] ‘to. Dito talaga ako nagsimula. Kung kaya ‘yung props area na ‘yan, naalala ko, sabi ko nga sa asawa ko, naaalala mo ba dito ‘yung opisina ni Tita Cory noong araw. This is where I started so I’m just coming back home. And I’m happy and blessed that I am home, and I’m here to stay.”
He then expressed how honored he feels to work with the Kapamilya Network.
“I’m so honored that at this juncture of my career, I [was given [the chance to do what I love to do. And, that is to sing every Sunday, to perform every Sunday, to make people laugh every single day. That gives me so much joy.
“And natutuwa ako na ang dami-daming Kapamilya pa rin, at parami ng parami pa rin ang Kapamilyang nanonood sa akin. Kaya ako, itong araw na ‘to, excited ako, sobrang excited, nag-uumapaw.”
He then promised to continue making good music and performing for the Kapamilyas.
“Marami pa tayong aasahan sa gagawin ko, I don’t feel old, to be honest. I feel young as ever. More music to come, more performances, more laughter, more joy, dahil ‘yan ang kailangang kailangan natin ngayon di ba? At nandito na tayo para ibigay ‘yan.”
Alcasid started his career in showbiz as a host of the comedy program Small Brothers in 1992. He then worked in GMA Network’s Bubblegang and SOP from 1995 to 2013.
