Teejay Marquez expresses his excitement on his return to teleseryes as a villain

Teejay Marquez, on March 9, expressed his excitement about returning to teleseryes as a kontrabida (antagonist).

During the media conference for Mano Po Legacy: Her Big Boss, Marquez said it was his first time to take on a villain role.

“First time ko po gumanap ng Kontrabida and sobrang excited din po ako kasi after how many years nakabalik na po ako sa pagte-teleserye, sa GMA [Network], kaya sobrang nakaka-excite, and nakakakaba syempre dahil sobrang ibang-iba rin po ito kung sino ako sa personal.”

He then praised the series director Easy Ferrer and the cast for helping him out portraying an antagonist character.

He also shared some of the struggles he faced portraying his role.

“Siyempre na-challenge ako kasi parang hindi ako–parang hindi talaga ako normal na magalit, or talagang hindi ako sanay magalit, or parang magalit ba ako, ano ba ‘yung itsura ko. Like believable ba?

He recalled how his co-actors, like Ken Chan, helped him rehearse for his role off-cam.

So humuhugot talaga ako sa kanila. And I’m so thankful kay Ken na talagang sinusuportahan niya ako.

“Before kami sumalang, ‘Teejay, Teejay throw lines tayo.’ Kunyari nagkwekwentuhan kami tapos bigla kaming, ‘O anong lines?’ Mag-iisnab kami, mag-uusap kami agad about it, so napa-praktis, so it really helps. Na wow, may lumalabas! Kaya nakakatuwa.”

Marquez’s last teleserye appearance was with the 2014 TV mini-series, Seasons of Love.

As for his most recent project, Mano Po Legacy: Her Big Boss also in the cast are Bianca Umali, Ken Chan, and Kelvin Miranda.

Director Easy Ferrer helms the series that will premiere on March 14  via GMA Telebabad.

The series also has other stars like Pokwang, Arlene Muhlach, Ricardo Cepeda, Marina Benipayo, Sarah Holmes, Tyrone Tan, Sarah Edwards, Hayley Dizon, Lime Aranya, Jem Manicad, and Phi Palmos.
