On April 21, Kapamilya artist Ria Atayde admitted having a quarter-life crisis as an actress.
In an interview with Ria, she acknowledged that she’s her own worst critic of her acting.
“Siguro, it comes na rin with age, di ba I just turned thirty po, so parang quarter-life crisis to a certain extent. I mean that it’s not that I’ve been– I have been so blessed with my career. ABS-CBN has given me such amazing roles–I’ve explored so much.
“I feel like that I’m my worst critic, talaga. I really am. Insecure kasi ako growing up. And it takes me a lot to believe in myself.”
She then expressed how she felt hearing her mother, Sylvia Sanchez, praise her for her acting in their latest series.
“Overwhelmed, I think as children naman, all we want to do is make our parents proud di ba? I’m sure it’s not just me, and to have heard it verbalized by mom in front of me. It was just an overwhelming and heartwarming experience.”
She then highlighted how her mother’s praise reassured her as an actress.
“Iba kasi ‘yung in person you hear it, especially kasi acting di ba? Acting is something that I’m very critical about. But ayon, it was just reassuring also to hear it.
“I feel like as an actress, you also at a point in your career na you question, is it still right that I’m doing this? Am I still meant for this industry? Am I meant to act? And ‘yun, it’s a good sign for me–that I’m in the right direction, siguro.”
As for her series, Ria stars in Misis Piggy, alongside Sylvia Sanchez, Iana Bernardez, Elijah Canlas, Ricky Davao, Rubi Rubi, and Fino Herrera.
Produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment, iWantTFC, Dreamscape Entertainment, Nathan Studios, and Epic Media, catch Director Carlo Catu’s early Mother’s Day offering starting April 25 on iWantTFC.
