Sky Quizon, surprised with the positive reception of his LGBTQIA+ character in ‘Viral: Scandal’

He then highlighted his character’s representation of LGBTQIA+ who are still in the closet.

Kapamilya artist Sky Quizon on May 3–he felt surprised with the positive reception for his LGBTQIA+ character in Viral: Scandal.

During the media conference for Viral: Scandal‘s Finale, Quizon jested with his character’s love interest in the series while expressing his surprise at the positive reception.

“Actually, super surprised with the reception ng tao kay Brax at tsaka kay Pogs na gusto na nilang i-dismiss si Bea.”

He then highlighted his character’s representation of LGBTQIA+ who are still in the closet.

“Nakakatuwa, it’s another–I think lighter angle sa mismong series. It’s very serious, very socially relevant pero ‘yung pag dating sa kanila medyo light and fun. Pero at the same time may sinasabi din.

“Like si Brax ‘yung character na hindi straight sa buong series, so it’s very representational of those people na masculine na tinatago nila ‘yung kung sino talaga sila because of takot sila na ma-judge ng ibang tao, takot sila na malaman ng pamilya.”

His co-star, Aljon Mendoza, had a similar reaction to Quizon, citing the character’s feel-good story.

He also shared some of the comments online regarding their characters in the series.

Ganon. Open ‘yung mga tao.”
