Joey de Leon congratulated President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. after his inauguration on June 30.
Via an Instagram post, the seasoned host-comedian made a pun as he expressed his congratulations to Marcos Jr.
“Simula sa araw na ito, opisyal nang sumasahimpapawid ang Eat Bulaga sa WALONG PANGULO ng Pilipinas! Congratulations President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.,” he wrote.
Marcos Jr. is the 8th President reached by the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga. It was established in 1979, and De Leon was one of its original hosts alongside Vic Sotto and Tito Sotto.
De Leon then quipped after Eat Bulaga gave way for the airing of the inauguration as this fell under their timeslot.
“At bilang pagkilala, waring itinapat pa nya ang kanyang pagsumpa sa oras ng Eat Bulaga matapos kumpirmahin ang kanyang pagwawagi ng isa sa mga hosts ng show, yung nasa kaliwa ng larawan! Muli ang aming pagbati,” he added.

As the former Senate President, Tito Sotto delivered the proclamation order for Marcos Jr. at the beginning of the inauguration program to formalize the event.
This is not the first time De Leon made a pun about Marcos Jr.
On May 28, De Leon also quipped about Marcos Jr’s win via an Instagram post too.
“Bakit si BBM Presidente ngayon? Kasi after DU30, yung may 31 naman! After that DU30 TOO! Gets?,” he quipped.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte, known as DU30 and Marcos Jr, succeeded him with 31 million votes. De Leon then assumed that Duterte’s daughter Sara Duterte would come after Marcos Jr. so that it would be DU32 (Duterte too). Thus, 30, 31, and 32.
UniTeam celebrity supporter Toni Gonzaga found this joke as a witty remark from De Leon, so she commented, “OG Henyo.”
