Maid in Malacañand director Darryl Yap called out Katips director Atty. Vince Tañada to show the movie’s earnings Monday, August 8.
The challenge was Yap’s response to Tañada’s statement claiming that “Disinformation is the bigger enemy, not Maid in Malacañang.”
In a Facebook post, he wrote, “for the sake of honesty and for your cause to fight disinformation, I challenge Vince Tañada to disclose the real numbers of his films’ gross.”
Tañada earlier “joked” about earning P41.8 million on its opening day, beating Maid in Malacañang‘s P21 million.
“Kayo naman masyadong seryoso…pwede naman magjoke minsan? Hahaha

Yap also challenged the Katips director to “explain” his claim.
“Explain why you joked about 41.8M for your opening day and why you enjoy the fake news of 198M as your total gross to date.”
He added, “Together, We must fight the bigger enemy, Mr. Tañada. This and all for the sake of the Philippine movie industry and our responsibility to the Bureau of Internal Revenue Philippines.”
This is not the first time that Yap had words for Tañada. The latter previously claimed that they did not force their audience to watch the film, which the former disagreed with.
Both films clashed on August 5.
As of this writing, Maid in Malacañang has already grossed P140 million.
Tañada, on the other hand, has yet to respond to Yap’s challenge.
