Legendary singer Hajji Alejandro had a series of puns during the media conference of the Four Kings and a Queen concert Friday, August 12, and had the press members, including LionhearTV, figuratively rolling on the floor laughing.
The presscon was held at the Mesa Restaurant in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
At some point during the conference, the singer, including Rey Valera, Marco Sison, Nonoy Zuñiga, and Pops Fernandez, were asked to expound on the meaning of love.
When it was his turn, Alejandro pointed out that all of the performers in the concert had one thing in common: they were all separated.
“Ang isa sa mga rason kaya nagsama-sama ang grupong ito dahil may common denominator: lahat kami hiwalay, hahaha!” he jest.
His jokes did not end, associating love with siopao (hot buns).
“Alam mo, para sa akin, ang love ay parang siopao. ‘Yung akala mo asado, bola-bola lang pala.”
His most shocking joke began when he turned his attention to Sison. Alejandro shared that the latter made quite a business in selling barbecues during the height of the pandemic.
“Noong pandemya, nagtinda ng barbecue ‘to eh, sa Biñan, Laguna. MS Barbecue,” shared the singer.
He revealed that all of Sison’s customers were women and, at some point, asked for some tips in figuring out love.
“Wala bang nagtanong sa iyong babae, Marco? Paano mo masasabi na mahal na mahal nang isang babae ang isang lalaki?'” recalled the singer.
Alejandro’s answer was simple: a man truly loves a woman when he treats her like a barbecue.
“‘Yun bang tinuhog ka na, eh kinain ka pa.'”
The room was filled with laughter, with Fernandez being shocked to hear her co-performer blurting out such words. She even “advised” him not to share green jokes during the concert.
“Huy! Manunuod nanay ko sa show natin ha! Conservative ‘yun ha!” she punned.
Four Kings and A Queen concert will begin on August 26 and 27. It will be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
