Rey Abellana wanted his daughter, Carla Abellana, and her estranged husband, Tom Rodriguez, to fix their marriage.On July 22, via an interview, Rey revealed he was hoping the two would be on good terms again despite the emerging issues.

“Hangang ngayon hindi pa rin nag-o-open up kasi ang anak ko sa akin kaya hindi pa rin ako klarong kasagutan sa mga tanong diyan.

“Bilang ama, from the very start to the present, gusto kong magkaayos sana sila dahil umabot sa point na nagpakasal na ‘yung dalawa. Iba na ’yong level na ’yun na agad-agad masisira lang. May vows ’yan, e,”

Rey said he still considers Tom his child, wishing the two could be together again.

“Kasi ang lumalabas, pareho ko nang anak ’yan, e. Nagpakasal ’yong dalawa so pareho ko ng mga anak ’yan, pati si Tom. Ano pa ba ’yong hihilingin ng magulang kundi intact [na pagsasama]. Kaya lang sa bagay na ’yon sila pa rin ang may huling desisyon.

“May promises na ’yan, may vows na ’yan, e. Dapat i-prioritize nila ’yon,” he added.

On January 25, three months after their wedding day, the couple was rumored to have separated when netizens observed that the two unfollowed each other on Instagram.

After seven years in a relationship, the two Kapuso stars tied the knot on October 23, 2021.

The two have yet to disclose any statement regarding their alleged separation.

On March 11, Rey shed light on the alleged separation of his daughter Carla and Rodriguez. He mentioned that the latter had a one-night stand with someone.

“Nay, honestly speaking, hindi po natin maku-consider na third party, e, ang sitwasyon. Kasi po, ang pangyayari ay one-night stand, e. So, hindi natin kinu-consider yun na third party.”
