On July 29, Sen. Imee Marcos reacted to the mixed comments about the movie Maid in Malacañang.

At the red carpet premiere of Maid in Malacañang, the woman senator cited that the mixed comments helped the movie gain popularity through online discussions.

“Well, at least they’re talking about us. A little too much, pero okay lang. I actually haven’t seen the movie, sa totoo lang hindi ko pa nakikita ‘yung sine ng buo kaya excited din kami.”

She admittedly felt nervous seeing the movie for the first time.

“Ninerbiyos ako, at mayroong nagsasabi sa akin na iiyak daw ako, ayaw na ayaw kong umiiyak.”

She also thanked the cast and director Darryl Yap for the production of their movie.

“Yes, maraming maraming salamat sa ating cast, napakagagaling, napakagaganda, higit sa lahat, napaka-tapang. Kinakabahan ako sa inyo. Pero, pangatawanan na natin ito. Ito ang katotohanan na alam namin.

“Thank you, at kay Direk Darryl, kahit marami kang kasalanan sa trailer, kakausapin nanaman kita.”

At the red carpet premiere, Sen. Marcos also revealed that they toned down the event to donate to the victims of the recent magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Abra.

“Ang pinaka-importante ngayon is tumulong sa mga nalindol sa Norte, mga Ilokano pa man din. At ito nga medyo na-tone down ‘yung premiere pero tuloy pa rin ang palabas. So ganon na lang, ‘yung catering, mga bulaklak, bawas ng kaunti, nagdala na lang ng mga halaman kanina. Para fill in the blanks na lamang. Tsaka naka-paper bag na lang lahat ng kakainin ng mga bisita.”

Maid in Malacañang stars Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Cristine Reyes, Diego Loyzaga, Ella Cruz, Kiko Estrada, Kyle Velino, Elizabeth Oropesa, Karla Estrada, and Beverly Salviejo.

Under the direction of Darryl Yap, the movie premiered on August 3 in theaters nationwide and is to be followed by worldwide screenings.
